Trumpwatch --Divide and Deflect --Donald Trump WANTS you to be arguing about whether or not he is a racist.

I hate to give the sad, pathetic man in the White House the attention he craves, but . . . This intelligent, attractive, outspoken woman is Weijia Jiang, who grew up in West Virginia.

Many people are currently arguing about whether or not the President of USA dealt with her in a manner that was racist. The President of the USA is often accused of behaving in a racist manner and people often argue about it. This happens much too much to be mere coincidence. The purpose of this blogpost is not to weigh in on the issue of whether or not Trump is a racist, but to suggest that if you do spend time and energy weighing in on this issue, you are playing Trump's game. Yes, I am arguing that one of Trump's biggest and most commonly used tools ("tricks" if you prefer) is to get people to argue amongst themselves, and I am also suggesting that he loves the attention when people are arguing about him, and that he intentionally does something provocative so that people will argue about his behavior instead of focusing on truly important issues that are happening around us.

This tactic is called "Divide and Deflect." And the American people fall for it again and again and again and again . . .

Our president has a few tricks he does again and again. Some will argue that they're not terribly clever but he uses them well, he uses them often, and they got him, against all odds, into the White House. It would benefit us all if more people recognized them.

Chief among them is “divide and deflect.” Whenever, he and/ or the nation has a problem, whenever people are beginning to notice the problems, whenever he is unable to cope with a problem or control the problem or the narrative about the problem, the next best thing for him is to hide it or divert attention from it. When this happens, he knows, it’s time to play “divide and deflect.” Again and again, one effective way to do this is to do something that is ARGUABLY RACIST to many but to others ARGUABLY NOT RACIST. In American not only are race and racism hot topics, but the line as to what is and is not racist is also a hot topic. Few can discuss these things rationally and without emotion. Thus he pulls a stunt like this and suddenly at least some people are arguing over whether or not it is racist and suddenly attention is diverted from other things which our president would like attention diverted from. These are: 1) there’s a pandemic and people are dying in large numbers, 2) the economy is falling apart because there is a pandemic and people can’t work, 3) the issue of exposing the president’s finances is actively being discussed in the supreme court today as well as the issue of whether or not a US president should be immune from prosecution or investigation (very important issue), and 4) idiots have decided that quarantine procedures implemented under a law signed by George Washington in 1796 are unconstitutional probably because Russian propaganda has told them this is something they should think. By contrast,Governor Cuomo of NY, a man I normally cannot stand but whose response to this crisis I have to respect, would simply have answered the question ( perhaps with "Because we want the American public to not only know that we are doing everything we can for them but also that our response is as efficient as possible when compared with other nations" ) and then moved on to the next question. You can see what happened on this BBC article with video.

Of course, you can leave a comment below. But, if you leave a comment arguing about whether or not the president was or is racist, REMEMBER, you are playing his game and letting him control what you do and think.
